Brackendale Arts is a family owned business run by Joanne Seward.

Established for 25 years, it is an Aladdin’s cave of art and craft items. Every inch of space is used to stock everything from brushes and paints to glitter, exotic hand made papers and glass beads.

Staff are friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. They are willing to help the complete novice to the accomplished artist, with questions as diverse as ‘what can I put on the front of my wedding invites?’ to ‘what rag watercolour paper would best suit my style of painting?’ We know how daunting an art shop can be for a first-time visitor and therefore try to make any visit to our premises an enjoyable and enlightening experience. Many first time visitors with little knowledge of the art and craft materials soon become regular visitors full of confidence and creative ideas. We are all constantly learning from each other, with tips and tricks often being swapped between customers and staff and often between customers themselves! 

College lists or course lists that may appear very confusing can usually be easily narrowed down to what you need. When the exact item isn’t available we can usually suggest a suitable alternative.

The art and craft world is for ever changing, we try to keep up with the trends and we are always on the look out for new materials and ideas. There is always something new arriving through our back door to be squeezed into the shop somewhere somehow!
